Last year I had the honour of teaching a class at Sheridan College for the duration of the fall semester. Titled The Subconscious Sketchbook, the class was about how sketchbooks can become an illustrator's (or any artist's) most valuable asset, acting not only as a visual journal and potential conduit for collaboration but also as a metaphysical mirror.

Over the next few weeks, I plan to feature some of the students who created truly spectacular work in sketchbooks that took on lives of their own. First up is Jennifer Prior whose lush, dark dreamscapes hover somewhere between amusing and disturbing. Check out her website, or buy her prints here.
