Let's hear it for day-glo creatures drawn with highlighters, pencil crayons and crappy ballpoint pens!

- It's time to get down
- 04 September 2009
It's the last long-weekend of the summer here in Canada, so I thought this old painting (from 1999 - gasp!) was appropriately celebratory, although I'm not sure what Labour Day has to do with costumed mice. Anyhow, get outside and have fun!

- Drawing at the cottage
- 02 September 2009
This past weekend saw me, my two buddies from Trio Magnus and our long-suffering significant others invited up to the cottage of our friend and publisher, Anne Koyama. Along with beers on the dock, playing in the pool and a croquet tournament, we managed to find time to do up a 6 x 8' collaborative drawing. It was done with red and black snowman markers on primed canvas and took about an hour. We ended up giving it to Anne as a small thank you for such a fun weekend!

Just a few samples of some sketchbook stuff created at last night's Pen Club. Even the acrid smell of burnt plastic wafting out of the kitchen (which seems to happen every time we're at Future's Cafe, right around 8:30 pm) couldn't stop the creativity from flowing...

Do you like comics? Do you live in the Toronto area? If so, come on down to the Toronto Comic Arts Festival being held May 9th and 10th at the Toronto Reference Library, a few steps north of Yonge and Bloor. Not only will I be at a table with my buddies from Trio Magnus and Koyama Press, but there will be piles of amazing comics to spend your hard earned cash on!
- Year of the Ox?
- 09 January 2009
Happy new year everyone! Most of you probably know that according to the Chinese zodiac, 2009 is the year of the ox. But did you know 2009 is also apparently the year of the gorilla, the year of the hacker, the year of the Linux Revolution, the year of the credit thaw, the year of the travel deal, the year of the filibuster, the year of the electric car and the international year of astronomy? It's going to be a busy year...
- Obama-rama
- 05 November 2008
I don't usually wax political on this blog, but after watching Barack Obama's historic victory last night I couldn't help but get caught up in what was a truly remarkable moment for both America and the world as a whole. Congratulations USA! If only our Prime Minister was as inspiring a figure instead of being a cold-eyed automotan with a penchant for breaking his own laws, bloated cabinets and bad sweaters. I guess we got the government we deserved though, seeing as voter turnout in the Canadian election last month was at a record low. Sheez...
- Area Zinc
- 20 October 2008
Just a quick pre-Halloween note to mention that I have a couple of pieces featured in a cool on-line mag titled Area Zinc. It's produced by Zinc Studio in Madrid, and the theme of this issue is "fiction". Graçias to Andrés for the kind invitation!
